Most of us set goals, but usually we set them just a little bit small – that way we are pretty sure we can achieve them. There will be a bit of a challenge, sure, but we won’t end up in a sobbing mess on the floor if those ones don’t work out. If you really want your heart’s desire though, you’re going to have to go after those over-the-top, living your dream goals; the kind where you live your passion EVERY DAY, where your unique skills and personality are appreciated and your life is a manifestation of the freedom you desire in terms of your career, your love life and your finances. In other words, the kind of goals that when it finally comes time to do what you need to do to achieve them, you feel an almost paralytic sense of terror. 🙂
In order to really grow and to achieve everything you were born to achieve and obtain everything you desire, you need to get out of your comfort zone.
And the only way to get out of there is by taking a leap of faith. The reason it’s so uncomfortable on the road less travelled is that it’s uncertain. Most of us will do almost ANYTHING to avoid uncertainty in our lives, and it’s this fear of uncertainty that fires up when we start to dip a toe outside the zone’s borders. Unfortunately, there is never going to be someone out there who can 100% guarantee that things will turn out the way you want them to turn out when you jump…
..But if there was that guarantee, it wouldn’t be a leap of faith, everyone would do it and we would all be living the life of our dreams.
I still struggle to embrace fear, but every time I do it proves to me that I’m so much stronger and more capable than I ever imagined.
Don’t let the fear hold you back – life is so, so short and most people are feeling the exact same fears you are. Some of the most successful people in their fields feel terrified before they sign that cheque, make that deal or give that speech, but instead of seeing it as a ‘sign’ not to cross your zone, start identifying it as FUEL to propel yourself across the border and prove yourself wrong!
Here are some killer quotes on fear to help take away some of it’s power – refer to them when in need!
